What is Pinosity?
First, a quick note abut technology. If this site looks very strange — dark screens, items misaligned – you probably are viewing it in Internet Explorer 6. Please upgrade to IE7 and PINOSITY will look completely different.
Welcome to pinosity.com, a website inspired by a passion for Pinot Noir.
This site aims to be a resource for information about Pinot Noir that presents a global view about this most wonderful (and sometimes frustrating) variety. The site is run by Tasmanian Pinot Noir specialist Dalrymple, but it is not about any one winery or region. With the help of friends and colleagues in the Pinot Noir diaspora, we will present information about Pinot Noir wherever it is grown and made with the sort of commitment that it demands. Naturally Burgundy holds a special place in the hearts and cellars of Pinot Noir lovers and this site will reflect that. It will also aim to expose, explain, and discuss (overtime) aspects of Pinot Noir production, and hopefully by doing so enhance our appreciation and enjoyment of the wines.
PINOSITY will change; the site will grow and evolve organically with content being enhanced and added to regularly. Its future direction and development is in the hands of those who use it.
Pinot Noir producing countries, and regions, such as South Africa, Chile, and Alto Adige, are absent from regional vintage reports with no offence meant or real intent – we look forward to tasting and experiencing more Pinot Noirs from these parts of the world and others in the future.
Ode to Burgundy
In Burgundy did Henri J
A stately pleasure slope decree
Where Pinot, the sacred liquid ran
With layers measureless to man,
Down to a grateful me.
So twice five miles of stony ground,
With walls and gates were girdled round,
And there were vineyards spared the poison that kills
Where blossomed many a Pinot–bearing vine.
Above were forests ancient as the hills,
Enfolding special sites for wine.
With apologies to Samuel Taylor Coleridge
