Home to some of the world’s most recognisable names – Winfrey, DeGeneres, Cruise, Spielberg – the city of Santa Barbara, which sits along the coast of California just an hour’s drive north of LA, will play host to some of the biggest names in Pinot Noir this week.
The 15th annual World of Pinot Noir event will be held from the 6 – 7th of March, and will include two days of in-depth seminars and excursions, two grand tastings, and a Burgundy seminar, paired with a number of locally influenced gourmet lunches and dinners.
The two days of indulgence, in one of the prettiest towns on the west coast, will be hosted by more than 200 participating wineries and will feature an outstanding panel of sommeliers from around the world.
Wine critic, journalist and editor, Jancis Robinson, will kick off the weekend with a trip around the world in her tasting presentation Latitudes & Longitudes – The World of Pinot Noir. Joined by an esteemed panel of international winemakers, Jancis will introduce the subtle nuances of her favourite new and old world wines, before treating guests to a three-course gourmet lunch crafted specifically to pair with the panelists’ Pinots.
This session will be followed by the World of Pinot Noir’s much-anticipated Grand Tasting: Pinot Noir by the Sea, held from 3 – 6pm on both days of the event and featuring more than 120 producers from around the world.
Rounding out the weekend, like a 1990 Louis Jadot Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru on your palate, is the Vintage Burgundy Dinner with the Court of Master Sommeliers. This extraordinary six course wine dinner, will present vintage Burgundies from the Court’s extensive private collection, set in the Bacara’s intimate cellar. If you’re not one of Santa Barbara’s local superstars, you’ll certainly feel like one after this A-List dining experience.
